My Experience Making Traditional Martenitsa at Sofia University
As someone who is passionate about traditional Bulgarian culture, I was thrilled to have the opportunity to participate in a workshop on making martenitsa for Baba Marta at Sofia University. The workshop was led by students who showed me how to create our own traditional martenitsa, which is a special red-and-white bracelet or ornament worn to celebrate the arrival of spring and the coming of Baba Marta.

As we worked on our martenitsa, I was struck by the beauty and intricacy of the traditional designs. Each piece was carefully crafted using a variety of materials, including wool, yarn, and beads, and each one had its own unique meaning and symbolism.
The process of making martenitsa was both challenging and rewarding. It required patience, attention to detail, and a willingness to learn new skills. But as we worked on our pieces, I felt a deep sense of connection to Bulgarian culture and tradition, and I was filled with a sense of joy and pride.

After the workshop, I wore my martenitsa with pride, feeling a sense of connection to the rich history and traditions of my Bulgarian heritage. It was a small but meaningful way to celebrate the arrival of spring and the coming of Baba Marta, and I felt grateful to have had the opportunity to participate in such a special cultural experience.
Overall, my experience making martenitsa at Sofia University was an unforgettable one. It allowed me to celebrate the beauty and richness of Bulgarian culture, and I will always cherish the memories and friendships that I made during this special workshop.
